EMRitus captures the patient chart in a form that assists the user to
identify the actual content of documentation in the Current Status column
in the screen display below. Users can then compare this to the appropriate
billing level codes from the CPT E/M coding manual.
Rules for each code level are shown to the right of the Current Status
column so that the appropriate code supported by the actual documentation
in the patient's chart can be assigned. The billing data can then be sent
to a billing system and the E/M audit screen can be printed and filed
with the chart so as to be immediately available in the event of an audit.
Protection at this level of sophistication is a feature of Emeritus and
is made possible by the software's structured, comprehensive medical vocabulary
and granular clinical chart content.
